The Origin and Controversy About Swastika

“Hands off our sacred Swastika” must be the loudest roar of the followers of Vedic or Hindu Dharma and all its sects all over the world to save the divinity, purity, auspiciousness, serenity, prestige and position Swastika holds in human race, after the German members of European Parliament called for the total ban on the use of Swastika all over Europe in protest of Prince Harry’s provocation of international outrage by wearing Nazi outfits with a swastika arm band in a private fancy dress party. It is shocking and astonishing news for the lovers of Swastika, irrespective of their faiths, all over the world that the European parliament is in opinion of considering such a ban on this innocent symbol. What has Swastika done wrong? What is the crime of Swastika? Once the most popular, respected, beloved, revered and worshipped symbol of human being all over the world by all races and all faiths is facing socially, religiously and ethical discrimination in Christian dominated European Parliament. This senseless, idiotic and illogical motion of Swastika phobia must be opposed strongly and stopped immediately with the demand of lifting the ban and reinstating the use and status of Swastika in Germany. The people of the world must be educated and re-educated in the subject of Swastika to justify such worldwide agitation not only to save the Swastika but also to reinstate this holy and humble symbol with all its status, glory and respects.

Is the Indus Valley Civilization Aryan or Dravidian ?

Aryan-Dravidian Kinship

M. Vaitialingam has observed:

" The Indus-Valley civilization is now accepted as the earliest civilization found on the Indian soil. It was an urban civilization, no doubt. We are not sure of the creators of this civilization. Some say it was the “Dravidians.” But “Aryans” and “Dravidians” are concepts comparatively very modern which were created by philologists of the 19th century. The Indus Valley people had nothing to do with them. What is more surprising that the Gods of the Indus Valley people are also the Gods of the Vedas and are Gods of the Hindu religion worshipped to this day a fact which has compelled the writers of ‘An Advanced History of India’ (Dr. Majumdar, Dr. Raychaudhari and Dr. Datta) to say “We must therefore hold that there is an organic relationship between the Indus-Valley and the Hinduism of today.

The Aryan - Dravidian Conflict

South Indian traditions make no mention of any confrontation with supposed Aryans, followed by a migration from North to South.

Quite the contrary, ancient Tamil tradition traces its origins to a submerged island or continent, Kumari Kandam, situated to the south of India. The Tamil epics Shilappadikaram and Manimekhalai provide glorious descriptions of the legendary city and port of Puhar, which the second text says was swallowed by the sea. As in the case of Dwaraka, (please refer to chapter on Dwaraka), initial findings at and off Poompuhar, at the mouth of the Cauvery, show that there may well be a historical basis to this legend: apart from several structures excavated near the shore, such as brick walls, water reservoirs, even a wharf (all dated 200-300 B.C.), a few years ago a structure tantalizingly described as a "U-shaped stone structure" was found five kilometers offshore, at a depth of twenty-three meters; it is about forty meters long and twenty wide, and fishermen traditionally believed that a submerged temple existed at that exact spot. If the structure is confirmed to be man-made (and not a natural formation), its great depth would certainly push back the antiquity of Puhar. Only more systematic explorations along Tamil Nadu's coast, especially at Poompuhar, Mahabalipuram, and around Kanyakumari (where fishermen have long reported submerged structures too) can throw more light on the lost cities, and on the traditions of Kumari Kandam, which some have sought to identify with the mythical Lemuria.

Bridges always seems to entice us. Here we have the Adam's Bridge 'Rama Sethu' the amazing bridge of our times.
This bridge is supposedly built by Sri Rama, the mythological hero of the epic Ramayana. This bridge has been one of the most interesting one 'whether this structure is natural or manmade'. The bridge is 30 miles long & separates the Gulf of Mannar (southwest) from the Palk Strait (northeast).

Rama’s bridge is only 3,500 years old: CRS

INDIAN EXPRESS NEWS SERVICE

MADURAI, FEBRUARY 2: The Adam’s bridge over Palk Strait, said to be the remains of a bridge built by Lord Rama, dates back to only 3,500 years and not 1.7 million years as claimed earlier.

A team from the Centre for Remote Sensing (CRS) of Bharathidasan University, Tiruchi, has come up with startling facts about this ‘‘bridge’’. Led by Professor S.M. Ramasamy, the team is studying the geological changes that took place along the Tamil Nadu coastline in the past 40,000 years.

NASA debunks Rama bridge theory

NASA poured cold water on claims by Hindu news services that the US agency's spaceborne cameras had discovered the remains of the mythical bridge built by Rama across the Palk Strait.

"Remote sensing images or photographs from orbit cannot provide direct information about the origin or age of a chain of islands, and certainly cannot determine whether humans were involved in producing any of the patterns seen," said NASA official Mark Hess.

NRI websites like Indolink.com and the Vaishnava News Network had run a story earlier this week saying that "space images taken by NASA" had revealed "a mysterious ancient bridge in the Palk Strait." The story gained currency when it was picked up, unquestioningly, by the PTI.
